Where to buy Rat Stuff
It's been a learning curve for me when trying to source items that are safe or indeed recommended for rats. Certain chain pet stores unfortunately don't sell things that are really suitable for rats and a lot of people find seeking out suitable items quite daunting. Here's a short list of stores that I recommend for ratty stuff.
Gingerbread Rats - yes, this is me. I make pipe foraging toys that you can put food and treats in for your rats. You can hang these around the cage in different spaces to encourage foraging. Bead strings are made to be replaced so you can refresh your toy sustainably instead of buying new, over and over. Any money I make from these goes straight back into caring for my rats.
A Rat's Tail - Supplier of ratty things for both rats and humans! You can get wonderful handmade enrichment toys as well as items fit for human wearing. This business is online but you might also catch them at rat shows across the UK too as this shop is run by Marigold Rats.
Rat Rations - Some people regard this as the 'ultimate' rat supplier, especially for their rat food mixes. They also sell a variety of straight ingredients for people making their own mixes amongst a plethora of other useful things like vitamin supplements.
The Rat Warehouse - My go-to supplier for tap-a-drop, a great rat safe air freshener for your rat rooms.
Cosy Beds and Burrows - I love their hammock hangers but they also make really sturdy cubes too.
Fuzzbutt Cage Comforts - A host of soft sleeping furnishings for your cage.
Bayo's Bunting - Fantastic toys. You can even customise items to get them in the colours you want. This shop is run by Bayo Rattery.
Tic Tac Wheels - Premium metal wheels and tubes for your rat cages.
Rat Clubs
If you are seeking more rat information and would like to get involved with the local rat community, you can join a rat association. These run across the UK and you can speak to other like-minded ratty people and even get involved at a local rat show.
